Convoluted Tales, a collection of wry short stories by Workshop member Jim Johnson, is now available in print. A book release wingding will be held at the Columbia Heights Library. Drunkards are welcome, says Jim, but must “encase the beverage inside their bodies.” He did not specify whether inside or outside their containers, so apparently it doesn’t matter.

John-Ivan Palmer

“Magnetic Reality: Setting the Stage for Mass Murder in School,” a personal essay by Workshop member John-Ivan Palmer, is now available in Vector Magazine (http://vctrmagazine.com/). Included is the author’s account of meeting Jeff Weise under a “Hickeys Will Not Be Tolerated” sign in Red Lake Indian Reservation High School. Eighteen months later Weise murdered nine people at the same school.
“Whether he was in a ‘trance state’ during his murder spree is a matter of speculation. Whether he was in what’s called ‘baseline consciousness’ is equally speculative.”
